  Elena is an award-winning risk expert, international trainer and educator. She is the founder of a boutique risk management consultancy, The OpRisk company, specializing in risk transformation, board and executive level advice on effective risk management strategy, design and implementation. Elena authored Operational Risk Management in Financial Services: A Practical Guide to Establishing Effective Solutions, with second edition issued in 2024 and translated into simple Chinese. She runs public and in-house training courses with world-leading organisations including Euronext, the Institute of Internal Auditors, Risk.net, the London Stock Exchange Group Academy and Cambridge University.

  Mark is a Senior Vice President in the Skanska Group Headquarter, heading up Group Function Assurance and Control.  The function owns the global processes for governance, enterprise risk management and internal control and supports the Business Units and Group HQ in the development, implementation, operation, and assurance of their systems within these areas.

  Mark joined Skanska in 2005, after periods as a marine engineer officer in the British Royal Navy and at US engineering and services firm KBR.  He has worked in the field of risk management at Group HQ since 2013.

  Professor of Risk Management at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU). He holds an MSc in Business Administration from the University of Bern, a PhD in Risk Management from the University of St. Gallen, and a habilitation in Management Sciences from the University of Sopron. From 2015 to 2022, he chaired the Swiss Enterprise Risk Management Association, advising boards across Europe on integrated risk governance and management. As the head of HSLU’s Competence Center for Risk and Compliance Management, he combines empirical research with hands-on consulting. A frequent keynote speaker at international conferences, he translates science into actionable guidance for practitioners.
